Paul Utomi, a filmaker has premiered the official trailer for his forthcoming hyperlink cinema film, 'Country Hard'. t he crime drama is set to make its festival premiere at the ongoing 10th Africa International Film Festival (AfRIFF) RELEASING the trailer, Utomi wrote on Instagram:   "Hi everyone, please check out the trailer for COUNTRY HARD, a feature film I wrote and directed. The first case of Lassa fever has been reported in Ekiti state. The state Commissioner for Health, Dr Olurotimi Ojo, who made this known to newsmen in Ado-Ekiti today January 18th, said the index case which involves a student nurse was confirmed over the weekend. “Over the weekend, the state confirmed a case of Lassa fever that is being managed at the Federal Teaching Hospital, Ido Ekiti.The patient is stable and had commenced treatment. Immediately the patient was diagnosed and confirmed, the management began the process of contact tracing. Once you have an index case, there is tendency of having a primary case and possible spread and this could be dangerous. The doctors are handling the situation and monitoring the situation very closely. So, nobody has been quarantined after the contact tracing."he said Lassa Fever is transmitted by infected rodents. Over 40 persons have died from the hemorrhagic fever since its outbreak in Nigeria last November.

The Task Force of the Nigerian Labor Congress has revealed that 18 state governors are owing civil servants in their states salaries and arrears of pensions running into months. The leadership of NLC says workers in these states might be embarking on a nationwide strike on Monday May 25th if their state governors do not pay before the new administration takes over. According to Punch, the states owing salaries or pensions are; Abia, Akwa Ibom, Bauchi, Benue, Cross River, Ekiti, Imo, Jigawa, Kano, Katsina, Kogi, Ogun, Ondo, Osun, Oyo, Plateau, Rivers and Zamfara states. Abia state was listed as the state that had not paid its civil servants salaries running into nine months. The state is also said to be owing workers of the Hospital Management Board eight months’ salary; Abia State Universal Basic Education Board, six months; Abia State Polytechnic, five months; local government workers, four months; and teachers, three months’ salary arrears. Vice President-elect, Professor Yemi Osinbajo says Buhari is inheriting the worst economy in Nigeria's history. Professor Osinbajo said this during the opening of a two-day policy dialogue on the implementation of the agenda for change in Abuja today. "We are concerned that our economy is currently in perhaps its worst moment in history. Local and international debt stands at $60 billion. Our debt servicing bill for 2015 is N953.6 billion, about 21 per cent of our Budget. On account of severely dwindled resources, over two-thirds of the states in Nigeria owe salaries. Federal institutions are not in much better shape. Today, the nation borrows to fund recurrent expenditure. The figures of extreme poverty in our society- 110 million by current estimates- makes it clear that our biggest national problem is the extreme poverty of the majority.
